Georgene Gahan Cole

October 5, 1941 — August 27, 2024

Georgene Gahan Cole, of Chester, Virginia, died on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Born in Queens, New York, she was one of six children of the late Edwin Francis and Kathryn Agnes Steinberger Gahan. She was a loving wife to the late, Marvin Gray Cole, for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rosemary Gahan Sawyer. She is survived by her best of friend, Richard Wilson; her sister, Kathryn Gahan Amos; her brothers, Michael Gahan, Timothy Gahan, and Joseph Gahan; her three daughters, Christy Smith (Robb), Tammy Alexander (Rocky), and Mandy Powell (Jimi); her grandchildren, Brandon, Jessi, Brittany, Roman, Cali, and the late, Sam; her great-grandchildren, Landrie, Trace, Pierson, Leighton, Lochlyn, Liam, and another baby, Alexander on the way. Georgene graduated from Cathedral High School in Richmond, VA, and was a member of St. Augustine Church. She was an established artist, painted murals in the Richmond area, an avid gardener, and talented in so many creative ways. Most of all, she was a beautiful and kindhearted person to everyone around her. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 West Hundred Rd. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, at 2:00 p.m., in Richmond.
