George E. Johnston, Jr.

George E. "Junnie" Johnston, Jr., 87, of Chester, VA, passed away on September 19, 2025.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George Johnston, Sr. and Elsie Johnston; and by his beloved wife of 53 years, Brenda Johnston.

George worked as a pipe fitter with DuPont for 51 years before retiring. He was known by all for his selfless, generous, and kind spirit. He had a lifelong love of football, baseball, and racing, and found joy in cheering on his favorite teams. More than anything, George loved helping others. He was always ready to lend a hand, share his time, or offer a word of encouragement.

He is survived by his children, Kathy Johnston Wells (Ben) and Chris Johnston (Rachel); his sister, Phyllis Jones (Ken); grandchildren, Gracie Sue Johnston, Gunnar Wells, and Korraline Setzer; special nephew, Michael Johnston; special uncle, Richard Johnston; and many other nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 26, 2025, at 10 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park.

George's kindness, generosity, and love of life touched everyone he met, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
