Gene Olen Rowe

The world is a little less bright as we announce that Gene Olen Rowe of Prince George, Virginia, passed peacefully on October 1, 2026. He was born to Myrtle and Adam Rowe on January 29, 1942.

Gene was a devoted husband to his wife, Christa, with whom he shared 63 loving years. He was a great father to his three children, Stephanie, Cynthia, and Matthew, and a cherished brother to Hazel, Birdie, Hobert, Betty, and Phyllis. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is lovingly remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Gene lived with a spirit of optimism, perseverance, and genuine kindness that touched everyone he met. He was faithful to God in all things and respected by everyone. He was a charmer with a wonderful sense of humor. His memory will live on through the love he leaves in the hearts of us all.

There will be a graveside service held at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, 11302 Merchant Hope Rd, Hopewell, VA 23860, on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 11 am.
