Gay Sanders

Gay Bain Sanders, age 83, of Chester, VA, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2011. She was born in Dinwiddie, VA, the daughter of the late Preston C. and Eunice Hawkins Bain. Mrs. Sanders was also preceded in death by a sister, Janet A. Bain and a brother, Malcolm C. Bain. She was an educator for 41 years, serving as a teacher, elementary supervisor, and principal in the Henrico County Public School System. Mrs. Sanders was a member of the Chester United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Womenâ??s Group. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Dr. Ernest R. Sanders; brothers, Warren C. Bain and wife, Nancy, and Preston D. Bain, both of Dinwiddie; sisters, Peggy C. Bain of Highland Springs, VA, and Gwendolyn B. Carter of Petersburg, VA; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. The family will receive friends at the Chesterfield chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will take place in the funeral home chapel on Friday, September 23, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Bain Family Cemetery, Dinwiddie, VA, at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions are made to the Chester United Methodist Church, 12132 Percival St. Chester, VA 23831.
