Gary Lee Tomlinson, Sr., age 58, of Chester, VA, died on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. He was born in Portland, OR, the son of the late Ray and Mildred Keller Tomlinson. Mr. Tomlinson was a retired Sergeant First Class with the U. S. Army, who served during Operation Desert Storm. He was the owner and operator of Pedals Chains and Things bicycle shop in Enon. Mr. Tomlinson was a bicycle safety volunteer coordinator with Chesterfield County Public Schools. And he volunteered his time with many fundraising bicycle rides as a traveling mechanic assisting riders with trouble along the ride. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Kiyo Tomlinson; a daughter, Cindy Tomlinson-Greene (Derek Greene); a son, Gary L. Tomlinson, Jr.; two grandchildren, Evan L. and Emma L. Greene; a sister, Misty Black; and other extended family. A visitation will be held on Mr. Tomlinsonâ??s behalf on Friday, September 23, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chesterfield chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, September 24, at 2 p.m. A private cremation will follow at a later date.
