Garland Lee Moody Sr.

Garland Lee Moody, Sr., 89, of Sutherland, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013. Born in Petersburg, Virginia, he was the son of the late William and Alice Moody. Mr. Moody was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Mayhew Moody; and daughter, Jacqueline Moody. He was a proud veteran in the U.S. Army having received the Purple Heart in WWII. Garland was a member of the American Legion Post #2 and the Dinwiddie Moose Lodge. He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Moody-Langford, and Brenda Hart; three sons, Cooky Moody and his wife Evelyn, Robert “Mike” Moody and his wife, Debbie, and Gary Moody; fourteen grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, June 10, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park.
