Frederick Norris Chamberlain

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frederick Norris Chamberlain, affectionately known as Freddy and Fred, who entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on August 27, 2026, at the age of 83, at Chippenham Hospital.

Born on October 20, 1942, in Warrenton, Virginia, Fred was the youngest of triplet brothers. As a young child, he moved to McKenney, Virginia, the town he would proudly call home for the rest of his life. Deeply rooted in the community he loved, Fred became a familiar and cherished presence to generations of McKenney residents.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Philip S. Chamberlain Sr., former Town Sergeant of McKenney, and Laura Keeton Chamberlain.

He is survived by his beloved triplet brothers, Philip S. Chamberlain Jr. and wife, Oma, and Robert M. Chamberlain Sr. and wife, Linda; his nephew, Robert M. Chamberlain Jr. and wife, Jamie; and his great-niece, Audrey Marie Chamberlain; along with many extended family members, friends, and neighbors who loved him dearly.

A proud American, Fred honorably served his country in the United States Army, including service in Vietnam. Following his military service, he worked as a Materials Technician with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) in the Materials Division. He spent many years working alongside his two brothers before retiring. In retirement, he enjoyed attending monthly VDOT retirement luncheons and staying connected with lifelong friends and former coworkers.

Fred was a lifelong member of Asbury Methodist Church in McKenney, where he faithfully worshiped, served, and grew in his relationship with the Lord throughout his life. His faith was the foundation upon which he built his life, and his favorite scripture, Psalm 23, reflected the trust and comfort he found in God as his Shepherd.

Those who knew Fred will remember his warm smile, kind heart, and genuine concern for others. He never met a stranger and found great joy in spending time with his neighbors, learning about their lives, and offering a listening ear or a word of encouragement. He shared a particularly special bond with his dear neighbors, Blackstone Police Officer Jeremy Ruppert, his wife Emma, and their sons, Jeremiah, Josiah, James, and Joshua, whom he loved dearly. Whether sharing stories, lending a helping hand, or simply stopping to chat, Fred made everyone feel valued and loved. His kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.

Fred's love for his family was unwavering, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with those closest to him. As one of a set of triplets, he shared an extraordinary and unbreakable bond with his brothers, Philip and Robert (Bobby). From childhood through their later years, they remained a constant source of strength, companionship, laughter, and support for one another. The unique connection they shared was one of life's greatest blessings and a testament to the enduring power of family. Among Fred's greatest joys was the special bond he shared with his great-niece, Audrey Marie. He cherished the many memories they created together and deeply valued their one-on-one conversations, which brought him tremendous happiness throughout the years. Fred was immensely proud of his family and deeply grateful for the friendships and relationships that enriched his life. His passing leaves a void that will be felt throughout the McKenney community, among his church family, and especially within the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Though he will be greatly missed, those who loved Fred take comfort in knowing that he is now resting peacefully in the presence of the Lord he faithfully served throughout his life.

A funeral will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral. After the funeral, Fred will be laid to rest in Asbury Memorial Cemetery.
