Frank Benjamin Rapport

April 30, 1935 — May 23, 2026

Frank Benjamin Rapport, 91, passed away on May 23, 2026, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Audrey Krause Rapport; and her children, Glenn (Marcie) Krause, Kimberly (Steve) Krause-Boim, and Michael (Carrie) Krause. He is also survived by a daughter, Julie (Ed) Myers; his sister, Vivian (Mike) Katz and their children, Karen (Bill) Brown and Debra Katz; his son, Michael (Joy) Lamb; and daughter-in-law, Lucy Lamb. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo & Rae Rapport; Audrey's son, Wilson "Buddy" Krause; his daughter, Suzy Stepper; and his son, Faron Lamb.

Frankie was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army for two years and was an expert marksman on the rifle team and later a photographer for the Stars & Stripes military newspaper. He was stationed in Germany in the 1950s and loved telling stories about his many adventures.

In 1953, he was a member of the National Maritime Union and worked on various ships, helping repair engines and keeping them afloat. He was also a member of the International Association of Machinists.

He graduated from the State University of New York, Agricultural and Technical College at Farmingham, on June 10, 1962, with a degree in Photographic Equipment Technology. In 1964, he joined the Society of Photographic Scientists and Engineers.

When he retired in 1997, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and was honored for his service by Rear Admiral S.P. Metruck in 2014.

He was adored by his grandchildren, their spouses, and many great-grandchildren who all called him "Grandpa Frank." His favorite family time was as captain of their party barge, cruising along the Currituck Sound in North Carolina. If there was an inflatable toy he could tow the grandkids on, he and Audrey bought it. His favorite was the inflatable jet ski because when a grandkid hit the wake, they'd go flying. His grandson Jimmy's favorite expression was, "Do it again Grandpa!" After water sports, his next favorite thing was steaming Chesapeake Bay blue crabs, which he and the family enjoyed many times on the screened-in porch, retelling funny stories like "accidentally" dropping a live crab and watching the grandkids run.

Grandmommy and Grandpa Frank hosted annual family reunions and July 4th get-togethers in North Carolina. The memories of those good times hang in our minds like a warm beach towel and as collages on his grandchildren's walls.

Closer to home, he kept his boat "Time Out" docked at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. He had many happy hours cruising along the Potomac River with his son, Faron. The two of them could fix anything that got broken and even put out a fire or two. Audrey and Frank had many happy memories with family and friends on the Potomac.

A funeral service for Frankie will be held at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 12:00pm. A reception will immediately follow the service at the funeral home. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park will be private for the family only.
