Frank "Poppy" Sternard Jones, 71, of Chesterfield, Virginia, passed away on May 31, 2026. He was born in Bartow, Florida, to the late James Bolling Jones, Sr. and Geraldine Bergholm Jones. He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Jones. Poppy is survived by his children, Sarah Jones Keener (Robbie) and Molly Jones Lehatto (Andrew); grandchildren, who he was a dedicated grandfather to, Caroline and Kennedy Keener and Zachary and Mason Lehatto; brother, James Bolling Jones, Jr. (Kathy); twin brother, Charles Stribbling Jones (Grace); nieces and nephews, James Bolling Jones III (Rebecca), Mackenzie and James Jones IV, Christopher Jones (Blythe), and Chase Jones.
As a youth, Poppy was an Eagle Scout and a recipient of the God and Country Award. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Virginia Commonwealth University and retired after thirty years of service from Phillip Morris, Inc. as a Quality Engineer Auditor. Poppy was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as a member of Nebletts Mill Pond in Sussex, Virginia. He always made sure the deer had plenty of Scooby snacks. He never met a deer that he did not want to shoot, a fish that he did not want to catch, or a neighborhood that did not need a tree stand.
Poppy loved to tinker with his old trucks, build model boats, and spent countless hours drawing pictures of anything and everything. He was never one to pass up the opportunity for a Long Island Iced Tea or a round of golf with his buddies.
Faith was important to Poppy and he was never shy about sharing God's word. "I put my trust in You. Fill me up with Your peace. The peace that surpasses all understanding."
