Francis Felix Lipscomb, Sr.

October 13, 1936 — May 23, 2025

Francis Felix Lipscomb, Sr., age 88, peacefully passed away on May 23, 2025, in Bonham, Texas. A man of quiet strength and deep devotion to his family, Francis remained with his loved ones for as long as he could, until his body could no longer keep up with his spirit.

Born on October 13, 1936, Francis lived a life marked by resilience, integrity, and unwavering love. Known for his generous heart, he would help anyone in need - even if it meant he had to go without. His straightforward personality sometimes rubbed people the wrong way, but those who truly knew him understood the depth of his kindness and loyalty.

Francis honorably served his country in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force, dedicating many years to military service before retiring. He had a deep sense of loyalty and commitment to his country, which was evident throughout his life. An avid martial artist, he earned six-degree black belts in four different disciplines, demonstrating dedication, discipline, and passion. When he wasn't practicing or teaching martial arts, he could often be found tending his backyard garden or working in his garage, where he repaired cars - hobbies that brought him great joy and peace.

Francis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy Ann (Valoras) Lipscomb, who passed away on June 4, 2009. Together, they raised three children and built a life full of love and cherished memories. He was the proud father of six children, three of whom - James Lipscomb, Jerry Lipscomb, and Brenda Lipscomb - preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children, Francis Lipscomb, Jr., Bonnie Lauer, and Wendy Williams; along with eleven grandchildren, Terri Kothandaraman, LeAnne Ruiz, Kenneth Cox, Amanda Craft, Michelle Shavers, Noel Morris, John Lauer, Kristina Miller, Christopher Lipscomb, Angela Parson, and James Ashley; and twenty-eight great-grandchildren, Heather Hanock, Seth Kothandaraman, Soniya Kothandaraman, Katalina Ruiz, Kayla Villegas, Kharisma Pippen, Amya Gaytan, Annabelle Gaytan, Adalyn Craft, James Ashley, Jr., Alba Craft, Lynda Morris, Stacy Morris, Laci Morris, Dylan Shavers, Zachariah Morris, Savanna Morris, Brandon Lauer, Kylee Lauer, Jerry Lauer, William Pulaski, Joseph Pulaski, Brittany Pulaski, Aaron Cape, Lea Anne Cape, Samuel Lipscomb, Lane Addis, Hoyt Parson, and Madalyn Parson; along with extended family members who will carry his legacy forward.

Francis's life will be remembered for his generosity, his steadfast presence, and the love he freely gave. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, and compassion.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. EST. All who wish to honor his memory are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who wish to honor his memory do so by sharing a story, a smile, or holding their loved ones a little closer.
