Frances Maldonado Rios

It is with both heavy hearts and quiet joy that we share that our mother, Frances Maldonado Rios, 77, of Chesterfield, VA, went home to be with our Lord on August 12, 2025. Born and raised in Austin, TX, Mom was the cherished daughter of Francisco and Jesusa Maldonado. Though we grieve, we are comforted knowing she is truly happy and at peace, surrounded by love in Heaven.

Mom leaves behind her three children, Christopher Michael, John Vincent (Diana), and Gloria Rachel (Shawn); along with four grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Matthew John, Andrew John, Ryan Christopher, and Hunter Owen. She is also survived by her beloved younger sister, Carmen. Welcoming her in Heaven are her parents; and brothers, Eulalio and Francisco Jr.

Mom was a native Texan who relocated to Chesterfield, VA, in the summer of 2021. She was a proud resident of The Barrington at Hioaks, where she found joy in her daily walks, loved taking part in community activities, and laughing at a good comedy. She loved sewing, crafting and creating beauty from simple things.

Above all, Mom's faith was her foundation. She loved God and Jesus with all her heart and cherished the times she could attend Mass and join Bible study. She lived what Scripture says: "Her children rise up and call her blessed; ... 'Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.'" Her life was marked by devotion - to her faith, to her family, and to serving others.

We know she stepped into eternity with the same spirit she lived every day - grateful, steadfast, and full of love-echoing the words of the apostle Paul: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Her love shaped our lives in ways words can't fully capture. She was our anchor, our teacher, and our safe haven. We miss her more than we can say, but we take joy in knowing she is now home, held forever in the peace and presence of the Lord.

A rosary service and visitation for Frances will be held at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, with the rosary service starting at 6:00pm. A funeral Mass for Frances will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church, 17111 Route 1, S. Chesterfield, VA, 23834, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 11:00am, with a reception at the church to follow.
