Florence Julia Watts Tunstall (1927-2025) passed away September 29, 2025, at her residence of Petersburg Home for Ladies.
Mrs. Tunstall was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hope Tunstall. She was the eldest of three children born to the late Frank Fields Watts and Julia Askew Turner Watts Jones. She was also preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Frank Fields Watts, Jr. and Clyde Douglas Watts.
Florence is survived by 3 daughters: Nancy Watts Tunstall of Colonial Heights, Barbara Tunstall Byrd of Galveston Texas, and Pamela Tunstall Ward (Bill) of Doswell Virginia; 7 Grandchildren: Darcie Cuffia, Keith Byrd (Kristin), Julie Cassidy, Hope Ferguson (Andy), Carrie Belton (Lewis), Weslyn Friley (Rob), and Brian Ward (Stephanie); 19 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Florence was born in Nelson County, Va and raised her family in McKenney, Va. Hope and Florence owned and operated McKenney Drug Company; he as pharmacist and she as manager. Their marriage was one of love, commitment, and partnering together in church, family and work.
The family will receive friends at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at 6616 Boydton Plank Rd, N. Dinwiddie, 23803. Graveside service will be at Jonesboro Cemetery, in Roseland VA on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 1:00pm.
