Florence Tatum

Florence Pope Tatum, 82, of Hopewell, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012. Mrs. Tatum was a proud graduate of East Carolina Teachers College. She is retired from teaching in the Hopewell Public School System after more than thirty-five years of service. Mrs. Tatum was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing with her bridge clubs. Mrs. Tatum also enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell B. Tatum Sr.; a son, C. Roy Tatum; her parents, Frank and Mary L. Pope Roy; and a sister, Katherine P. Martin. She is survived by her son, Rusty Tatum and his wife, Jackie; grandchildren, Michael Tatum and Russell B. Tatum; and two great grandchildren, Hannah Tatum and Amber Rose Tatum-Rawlings; nephew, Bill Martin; cousin, Cholly Easterling; and other family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Raymond, officiating. Interment will be private.
