Eva Petree Doolittle

Eva Petree Doolittle, age 90, passed away on June 7, 2025. She was born on September 3, 1934, in Saltville, VA. She was the daughter of Rev. Dallas Shelton and Bessie Johnson Shelton.

Eva spent most of her adult life in Hopewell and Chester, VA.

She retired from Allied Signal (Honeywell) and had been a member of Western Heights Baptist Church, in Dinwiddie, VA. She was a loving and caring person who was always concerned with other's well-being.

She is survived by her five children, Helen Dean (David), of Myrtle Beach, SC, James Carico (Michelle), of Myrtle Beach, SC, Michael Carico (Virginia), of Gilbert, AZ, Hiram Petree, of Prince George, VA, and Charles "Eddie" Petree (Betty), of Chester, VA; and John Carlton Petree, of Chester, VA; Kenneth Elbert Petree, of Chester, VA; and Carolyn Labbe, of Medino, OH; and Robbi Petree Daniels, of Chester, VA.

Eva had seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 PM, on Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Ron Sowers officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
