Eugene "Geno" Bausone, Sr.

Eugene "Geno" Bausone, Sr., 83, of Sutherland, VA, died on October 23, 2026, at home with his wife by his side. He grew up in Chicago, IL, the youngest of ten children in a home full of love and energy.

Geno attended Catholic schools where he learned discipline and just how tough nuns and brothers could be. After he graduated, he naturally enlisted in the US Navy, serving from 1961 to 1963 earning the rank of Airman E3 ABE (Aviation Boatswain's Mate Equipment). He was part of the Commissioning Crew of the USS Enterprise CVA-65 (N) and was a proud plank owner. He often spoke of the dedication of the crew, the adventures in his travels and the hijinks on ship.

After his service, he lovingly continued serving his family including working as a manager at Eastern Airlines and owner of P&G Fleet Tune and Lube. He served his church community, especially through his love of cooking and was always willing to lend a hand. He was a Boy Scout leader and supported activities and sports for his sons and his grandchildren.

He took every opportunity to visit his family in Sicily and was always on the search for the perfect "Bruciato" (burnt on the bottom) bread, crusty and flavorful like his mom used to make. He taught his kids, grandkids, and nieces and nephews how to cook his favorite foods and fix almost everything. The stories of laughter were endless, especially when things went awry, but it was all marked by love. "La Famiglia" was his joy and the core of his earthly life.

He is survived by his dedicated wife, Patricia Cornett Bausone of 20 years; his sons, Eugene "Louis" Bausone, Jr. (Mona), of Mechanicsville, John Bausone (Elaine), of Gloucester, and Anthony "Tony" Bausone (Kassi), of Henrico; brother, Rosario "Ross", of Phoenix, AZ; and stepdaughter, Tammy Williams (Donny), of Sutherland, VA. He is Papa to Bryan, Patrick, Marisa, Caelen, Branden, Samuel and Tara and great-grandfather, but always called Papa, to Audrey and Bennett. He is Uncle to so many, adored and enjoyed.

Geno is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Moore Bausone of 36 years; his parents, Rosario and Rosalie; and his siblings, Giuseppe (Joe), Maria (Mary), Francesco (Frank), Antonio (Tone), Salvatore (Sam), Joan Dalporto, Rosalie Lucarelli and James (Jim).

A funeral Mass will be held at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Richmond, VA, at a date to be determined, with a reception to follow. A private interment will be held at a later date. The family is being served by the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
