Ettie Aultman Petree, 89, of Hopewell passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Petree; parents, William and Daisy Bunch Aultman; daughter, Sandra Arms; son, Harvey “Butch” Violette Jr.; stepson, Norman Petree; grandson, Joey Arms; brother, William Aultman; sisters, Madeline Powers, Mildred Lewis. Ettie retired from John Randolph Hospital after 20 plus years in the emergency room. She was a longtime member of Woodlawn Baptist Church where she was a member of the Yah group and the Women of Woodlawn, and was a member of American Legion Ladies auxiliary post 146. Ettie enjoyed crocheting, reading, fishing, going to the beach, and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Kephart and her husband, Steve, Patricia Read; sons, Jack Violette and his wife, Betty, Thomas Violette; stepson, Donald Petree; grandchildren, Todd Kephart, Bryce Kephart, Steven Read, John Read, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, Meredith Lamm, Andrea Boyette and her husband, Timothy, Beth Muir, Charles Michael Violette, Rhonda Lynn Violette, Brenda Violette, Christie Lowe and her husband, Keith, Scooter Proctor, Tim Arms and his wife, Donna, Bradley Arms, Wendy Petree Yates; 21 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillian Emerson, Helen Goode and her husband, David; sister in law, Mary Aultman; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Woodlawn Baptist Church 3512 Virginia Street Hopewell, Va, 23860. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the church with interment to follow in Blandford Cemetery. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T.
