Elmer Rudolph Ellis, 78, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013. Born in Hopewell, VA, he was the son of the late George and Annie Ellis. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth Louise Ellis; and two brothers, Glen and Cecil Ellis. Elmer was a Korean War Veteran and proudly served his country. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish. He was a lifelong car builder and a passionate race car owner. He is survived by his son, Rudolph Ellis; two daughters, Patty Temperio, and Karen Ellis; 2 step-sons, Jack P. Dance, and Doug Strother; six grandchildren, Leonard Ellis, Michael Temperio, Courtney Temperio, James C. Young, Brian Dance, and Doug Strother, III.; three sisters, Virginia Hess, Sarah Ann Solesbee, and Etta Mae Boyette. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. Condolences will may be registered at
