Edward Thomas Emerson, 80, of Chester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late James T. and Bessie Rolfe Crowder Emerson, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann; 2 sons, Albert Francis and Albert Lee; grandson, Alan Ellison; 9 sisters and 6 brothers. Edward retired as Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force. He was a decorated Airman receiving numerous Medals of Honor from the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was a master electrician by trade. He loved baseball and his favorite team was the Atlanta Braves. Ed enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His favorite past time was fly fishing for bream. He is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Bertha; children, Edward T. Emerson II (Jan), Chyrl Ellison (Tom), and Margaret White (Bob); 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Myrtle Casey (Jack), and Patty Hughes; brother, George Emerson, Sr. (Mildred). The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013 also at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Cemetery. Condolences may be registered at
