NIKOLAISEN, Dwayne Elliott, born on November 5, 1965, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2025, at the age of 60, at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by family. He resided in Chesterfield County, VA, and was formerly from Chester, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth "Ken" Walter Nikolaisen, Sr. and Rebecca "Dianne" Nikolaisen; and niece, Chonna Nikole Sine.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dana Slate Nikolaisen; his step-daughter, Ashby Nicole Moore; and his son, Brandon Elliott Nikolaisen; siblings: brother, Kenneth "Kenny" Walter Nikolaisen, Jr. (Cindy); sisters, Cynthia Lee Contreras (Rick) and DeeAnna Nikolaisen Brockwell (Jimmy); bonus sister, Catherine Jordan Nikolaisen; mother-in-law, Wanda Lee Hawkins; brother-in-law, David "Polo" Hawkins IV (Brianne); nephews, Chance Branden Sine (Tisha), Phillip Kenneth Brockwell (Alyssa), and Gray David Hawkins; nieces, Danielle Ann Nikolaisen, Kayla Elizabeth Nikolaisen, Kaitlyn Rebecca Nikolaisen, Mylah Belle Hawkins, and Essie Dale Hawkins; lifelong friends, Skeeter Coates (Alice), Jerry Kennon (Teresa), and Gary Burnett.
Dwayne will be remembered as a strong and loving father, a loyal friend, an avid hunter, who looked forward to the annual hunting trips in Bath County on the family property with his son and best friends. Dwayne loved the outdoors - he loved his career of 40 years being a licensed land surveyor, helping people find their property lines, corners etc., not only with VDOT but on the side with his personal business. Dwayne enjoyed fishing and crabbing on the river at his parents place on the Potomac River when time allowed.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, from 6 PM to 8 PM. Service will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the funeral home, at 11 AM.
