Douglas "Granny" Swindell

Douglas “Granny” Swindell died peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at home with her family at her side. She was a devoted wife of the late Thomas Swindell. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Myrna Thomas (Joseph Thomas); and “Granny” to Joanne Preece (Les Preece Jr.), and Jenniffer Thomas. She was a dedicated great grandmother to Jackie Gregory (Tim Gregory), and Les Preece III, and was an adoring great-great grandmother to Liam Gregory. Granny worked as a sales attendant at Garfinkel’s in Hopewell for over thirty years. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Monday September 29, 2014 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Tuesday September 30, 2014 at the funeral home with interment to follow in Crestview Cemetery 18599 Highway 1 North, Lacrosse VA. 23930.
