Dorothy Jane Massmann Cole, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, at the age of 77.
She was born on November 18, 1948, in New Rochelle, New York, to Maj. Jack M. Massmann (USAF, Ret.) and Patricia J. (Dalrymple) Massmann. She is also remembered as a sister to Nancy M. Nolder and Frederick William Massmann. She lived a life defined by creativity, kindness, faith, and her love for helping others.
Dorothy was raised in an Air Force family and ultimately settled in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She later attended and graduated from the University of Wyoming.
Jane moved to Chester in 1988 - teaching Art at Carver Middle School for thirty years, serving in the Chester United Methodist Church, and recently a member of Beulah Church in Chester, VA.
Jane will be dearly missed by her husband of ten years, Edward H. Cole; her children, Patricia K. Nelson and Michael A. Kellerman; and her grandchildren, Madeleine N. Maxwell, Kathryn E. Nelson, Patton A. Nelson, Landon A. Nelson, Bassell A. Kellerman, and Bridget E. Kellerman.
A memorial service will be held at Beulah Church, located at 6930 Hopkins Road, N. Chesterfield, VA 23234, on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at 3pm, the Rev. Don Gibson presiding (with assistance of staff from the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home).
Contributions by check may be made in lieu of flowers. Mail all checks to Beulah Church, P.O. Box 37098, N. Chesterfield, VA 23234. Please put on the memo line "Pastor Discretionary Fund." Funds will be used to aid those in need within the body of Christ.
