It is with deep sorrow that our family announces that Donald "Don" Franklin Livesay, Sr., of Prince George, VA, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026. Born in Petersburg, VA, he was the son of the late Rufus Franklin and Mildred Barlow Livesay. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Gertrude Elaine Livesay.
Don graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commerce in 1958. After graduating, he managed his family's business, Livesay Motor and Equipment in Petersburg, until its closure in 1970. Don dedicated his life to his family and to working his beloved "Shady Run Farm" in Disputanta. He enjoyed working outside, farming, hunting, fishing, supporting and spending time with his family, and traveling across the United States with his wife, making it to 49 states. While Don found joy in many aspects of life, his love of the outdoors and his appreciation for the beauty of nature were integral aspects of how he lived life. He will be remembered by his family as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, cousin, and friend.
Don is survived by his daughter, Sharon Livesay Kushma (Jeffrey); son, Donald Franklin Livesay, Jr. (Sissy); step-children, Michael McLean, Susan Holman, and Linda McLean; grandchildren, Alex Kushma (Megan), Lauren Salmon (Whit), Zachary Livesay (fiancé, Nori Thomas), Todd Kushma, Alex, Rebecca, and James McLean, William and Arias Holman, and Andre and Aaliyah McLean; great-grandchildren, Smith and Sullivan Salmon, and Owen Kushma; and many other extended family members.
Friends and family are invited to visit and pay their respects to Don on Thursday, February 19, 2026, anytime from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. All other services will be private as this reflects Don's wishes.
