Deborah Jeanne "DJ" Downey

Deborah Jeanne "DJ" Downey, 63, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026. She was from Elkton, VA and born to the late Conrad Lee Long and Doris Ann Slaughter. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Lindall Edward Downey.

DJ was a hard working, loving, caring, beautiful person inside and out. She always opened her doors to everyone. Very kind and never met a stranger. She was very loved by everyone she met. DJ loved her children and grandchildren more than anything in this world. She is survived by her children, Christina Lawrence (Johnny), Felicia Downey, and Shawn Downey; her grandchildren, MJ Summerfield, John Summerfield, Ayden Oden (Gabby), and Makenna Videtto; her great-granddaughter, Kenzley Rae Oden; her bonus daughter, Ashley Dunn; her bonus grandchildren, Landon Dunn, JJ Bullock, and Elijah Wooden; her boyfriend, Sam Slagle and his children; her siblings, Lee Ann Pulver, Donna Marie Moritz, and Michael Anthony Long; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A night of visitation will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home from 3 PM to 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to American Cancer Society.

DJ had a light that could brighten up even the darkest of days and her light can never be replaced or dimmed.
