David Leslie Resnick, 67, of Charles City County, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at his residence. Raised in Colonial Heights, he was the son of the late Albert and Mildred Christine Vaughan Resnick. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Les worked in his family’s furniture business, Jet Furniture in Petersburg, for 50 years. Upon retirement, he purchased the Rivers Rest Marina in Charles City, and established the Blue Herron Restaurant, both of which he operated until his death. He was also a stock holder in Lucky Lake Gem & Mineral Mine of Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie K. Resnick; daughter, Shely Douglas and husband, Keith; son, Dennis S. Davis, III; grandchildren, Courtney Douglas, Austin Douglas, Allen Young and his father, Adam Young; step-mother, Patricia Resnick; sister, Dale R. Call and husband, Robson; brother, Larry Resnick and wife, Agnes, Barry Resnick and wife, Brenda and Jeffery Resnick; step-sisters, Vivian Burgwyn and husband, Bart, Beverly Hofmann and husband, Adolph and Linda Shait Carr; step-brother, Dr. Abe Shait and wife, Linda. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28th at Congregation Brith Achim, officiated by Rabbi Dennis Beck Berman.
