David Jameson Reid, 54, of Henrico, Virginia, passed away on January 4, 2026. Born in Massachusetts, he moved to Chesterfield, Virginia as a child, and graduated from Thomas Dale High School in 1990. He later graduated from James Madison University. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Doane Reid; his loving wife, Rebecca Keenan Reid; his daughters, Sydney and Anna; his son, Isaiah; and his brother, Matthew Reid. He was predeceased by his father, Gerald Reid, and by his brother, Gerry Reid.
David was an Amsoil Distributor for many years. His customers will not only miss his service, but the extra time he took to talk to them and the personal interest he had in their lives.
David was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and was in the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults.
David will be greatly missed by his own family and by Rebecca's family, who consider him one of their own. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews who mourn their fun and caring Uncle David, as well as by his many cousins who will recall good times with David, working with him and listening to John Prine. His many friends will miss his compassion, concern, and love for them.
David would walk down the street, through a store, or down the beach and meet people. He could talk with anyone and become their friend. He would not only talk, but he would listen. He truly cared for others, and it breaks our hearts that he lost the struggle to care enough for himself. He spent many years volunteering with the cyclist and theatre ministries at Willis United Methodist Church. He especially cared for people with special needs, and they responded to this. Because of this, if you wish to make a memorial donation, the family asks that it made to a special need foundation of your choosing.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 300 N. Sheppard St., Richmond, VA 23221. The family is being served by the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
