David "Dave" Wayne King

April 13, 1957 — April 22, 2026

David "Dave" Wayne King, 69, of Chesterfield, Virginia, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026 surrounded by his family.

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Dave maintained a lifelong connection to his hometown, including a devoted loyalty to the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He dedicated the majority of his professional career in the financial services industry as a mortgage-backed bond trader, where he was respected for his discipline, insight, and strong work ethic. In retirement, he continued to serve others and pursued a new role as a tax preparer and later as a pickleball instructor, reflecting his enduring passion for teaching and mentorship.

Dave was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy was found in his family. He shared a deep and abiding love with his wife and took great pride in providing for his family. He especially cherished time spent with his granddaughters, Savannah and Olivia, finding lasting joy in their time at the park, McDonald's lunch dates, and any other adventure the girls dreamed or requested.

Throughout his life, Dave demonstrated a commitment to guiding and investing in others. He coached youth sports, including paintball, baseball, and softball, offering not only instruction but encouragement and consistency. His influence extended beyond the field, as he instilled in those around him the importance of integrity, perseverance, and honoring one's commitments.

Known for his warm demeanor and steady optimism, Dave had a natural ability to bring joy to others. His sense of humor, often lighthearted and playful, left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He valued life's simple pleasures and will be remembered for his generosity, character, and unwavering dedication to his family. To those who knew him best, he earned a few lighthearted titles along the way - often affectionately referred to as the "King of Bonds," the "King of Paintball," and in his later years, the "King of Pickleball," a reflection of both his talents and the joy he brought to everything he pursued.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth; his son, Brian, and his wife, Alycia; his daughter, Abbey, and her two daughters, Savannah and Olivia; his sister, Tina; and his brother, Mark.
