David Lee Jones, or "Bubba" to those that loved him, passed away on August 24, 2026, at the age of 81. He was born on August 17, 1945, to Robert Jones, Sr. and Myrtle Hambright in Hopewell, Virginia.
Bubba proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from 1964 to 1968, completing two tours during the Vietnam War and earning several awards, including the National Defense Service Award and Vietnam Service Medal.
He married the love of his life, Frances Livingston, in 1966, and over sixty joyous years of marriage, they built the devoted family that has been the pride and joy of their lives. Bubba loved telling stories, fishing and hunting with his dear friends, and most of all spending time with his family at The Bay, particularly around a bushel of blue crabs. He will be sorely missed, and dearly remembered as a loving husband, perfect father, adored grandfather, and an all around wonderful and decent man.
He is preceded in death by his parents and older brother Bobby Jones (survived by his wife, Ellen) and dear nephew Alan Robinson. He is survived by his beloved wife, Frances; his siblings, Carole Ann (Bruce) Campbell and Mary (Andy, deceased) Robinson; his daughters, Rebecca (Kevin) Wyatt and Ann (Randy) Peshoff; and his five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emma, Luke, Drew, and Lauren.
A graveside service will be held at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens in Prince George, Virginia at 11am on Monday, August 31, 2026. He will be forever loved and remembered.
