It is with great sadness the Cook family announces the death of David Wells Cook, Jr.
David was not a perfect man, as no man is perfect except by the grace of God. He had his faults as we all have. David was a caring, giving, compassionate, a great provider for his family, never complaining, and a loving man. He loved his family every day.
He so enjoyed the time he spent with his sons, mostly, and sometimes daughters, and grandson, hunting and fishing. He taught them well.
He also enjoyed helping others, no matter the task. He was a jack of all trades, including crocheting.
He was known as "Papa" to a lot of children. Through the years our household was filled with laughter and joy by many young people.
He was predeceased by his parents, David, Sr., and Gladys Cook; his brother, Donald; and daughter-in-law, Kim.
He is survived by his wife, Emmie, of 55 years. They had the great privilege of rearing five of the finest children God had to give, David, Steve, Michelle, Nicole, and Grace. His world was made richer by more than ten grandchildren, Abagail, Justin, Jonathan, Jason E., Gabrielle, Frankie, Mikie, Ariel, Jessika, Hannah, and some by choice, Kali, and Allison; great-grandchildren include Lily, Jason L., Zio, and Link; his sister, Patty; sisters-in-law, Linda (Andy) and Lisa (Tim); and brother-in-law, Bobby (Kristie); along with many nieces and nephews that spent many hours at the Cook household.
David was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church since its beginning in 1991.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with a service to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
