Daniel E. Bernshausen, 31, passed away on August 11, 2026. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert T. Anderson and Helena B. Anderson. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Bernshausen; father, Emerson Bernshausen II; paternal grandparents, Emerson and Betty Sue Bernshausen; sister; Dana Wilkins (Montrael); brothers, Andrew Bernshausen (Lydia) and David Bernshausen (Hailey); and seven nieces and nephews.
Cooking was Daniel's passion. He began his journey as a chef at Colonial Williamsburg Inn at a young age and honed his craft at the Common House in Richmond. Seafood was his specialty, and he enjoyed cooking scallops for customers, family and friends. Oftentimes in the kitchen he would exchange his chef's hat for his Philadelphia Eagles ball cap, and cries of "Go Birds!" for his beloved Eagles could be heard emanating from the kitchen. Daniel's love for his work, his team, and his cherished cats was fierce and persisting, and everyone who loved Daniel will always remember his passion for the things and people he loved.
Services will be private. The family is being served by the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son.
