Cynthia Jayne Vanderburg, 70, of Petersburg, VA, passed away on January 22, 2026. Born and raised in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Martin.
Cynthia was a loving wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was deeply devoted to her family. She had a lifelong love for animals and was well known for rescuing any animal in need of a safe and caring home. She also enjoyed horses, hunting, and fishing, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Dotts.
Cynthia is survived by her husband of 33 years, Carl R. Vanderburg; her sons, Jeffery Hooker (Kim) and Chris Vanderburg (Lindsey); her grandchildren, Savannah Hooker, Chase Hooker, Taylor Bishop, Carli Vanderburg, Bethany Vanderburg, and Libby Vanderburg; and her great-grandchildren, Parker and Kallie.
Her love, kindness, and generosity will be forever remembered by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at the chapel, with the interment to follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
