Craig H. Myers

February 20, 1955 — June 5, 2025

Our hearts are broken as we announce the passing of Craig H. Myers, 70, devoted husband, loving father, and true friend to so many. Craig lost his battle with cancer on June 5, 2025, with his wife and daughter by his side.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Kathleen "Kathy"; one daughter, Pamela McGough (Rob); several close cousins; and a long list of lifetime friends.

Born in Germany, on February 20, 1955, and was shortly adopted by a loving American Military couple, Forest and Ruby Myers, who preceded him in death. As an Army Brat, Craig spent many years growing up in Texas and Pennsylvania, later landing in Hopewell, VA, where he graduated from Hopewell High School, followed by four years of college.

Craig was a dedicated civil servant for 37 years at Fort Lee, VA, as the Chief Information Officer, serving several Commanding Generals and staff. His work ethic was unmatched, earning him immeasurable respect and numerous Civilian Service Commendation Medals, including Civilian Service Meritorious Medals. Craig was instrumental in the new construction of the Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM) Building at Fort Lee, VA, during 2012-2014. His thumbprint is on every plan from start to finish. Here is where he retired.

His lifelong love of fishing had him serving as the President of the Lake Chesdin Bass Club Association in Dinwiddie, VA, for 15 years. He also served as the President of the Spring Lake Community in Chester, VA, for many years, where he renewed his love for fishing, hunting, and woodworking projects. Craig also belonged to the Cockade Alley Bourbon Tasting Club and became a connoisseur of bourbon around the world.

Craig's life will be remembered for his love of family, friends, and country. His special quality was his hugs; he never held back on them. If you were hugged by him, you knew you were hugged.

There will be a visitation at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A graveside service will be held at Southlawn Memorial Park, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
