It is with loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Cleveland "Cleve" Dale Allen, a remarkable man whose life was filled with music and simple joys. He enjoyed working in his yard, being outside, and feeding the birds. That was his peaceful time. He was also a passionate collector of sports memorabilia. Over the years he built a collection that reflected his love of sports, and love sharing his collection. His favorite teams were the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Orioles, and UNC Tarheels basketball!
He was a proud dad and a hard worker. He was known by family and friends as one of the best banjo players around. A man whose fingers could bring a bluegrass tune to life.
After 37 years as a machine operator at Phillip Morris, he enjoyed being retired for 10 years.
He will live on in our fondest memories. He is so loved and will never be forgotten.
Cleve is preceded in death by his father and mother, Luther G. and Josephine F. Allen; and by his brother, Larry G. Allen.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, his biggest fan, and mother of his children, Laura Allen; his two sons, Brandon and Justin Allen; his brother, Marty Allen (Cynthia); his sisters-in-law, Kim Allen and Cheryl Elder (James); his brother-in-law, Wayne Dockery; special niece, Niki Stancil (David, Caleb, Caden, and Colby); his special great-nephew, John Oliver (Matt and Heather Oliver); in addition to many more aunts, uncles, nephews, and cousins.
A viewing will be held for Cleveland Dale Allen at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, on Thursday, March 19, 2026, between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
There will also be a Bluegrass Celebration of life held in his honor. The date is to be determined but will be posted on Cleve's Facebook page.
