Claude Allen Tipton, 78, of North Chesterfield, Virginia, passed away on April 24, 2026. Born and raised in Dickenson County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Cody and Dorothy Tipton of Clinchco, Virginia.
He is survived by two sons, Jeff Tipton (Lita) of Chesterfield County, Virginia, and David Tipton (Nora) of Ingleside, Illinois; grandchildren Elijah (Eli) Tipton, Tahlia Tipton, Marley Lockert, and Adia DeAvilla; and one sister, Marlene McCowan of Clinchco, Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger and Johnny Tipton, and his sisters, Polly Mullins, Sheila Taylor, and Mildred Salyer.
Claude retired from International Paper Company after 21 years as a machinist. An avid fisherman, he loved the water and spent more than 40 years fishing his favorite spots along the Lake Gaston shoreline. He loved old Westerns, true crime shows, and antiques of all kinds. As the proud son of a coal miner, he valued hard work and took pride in working with his hands. He became known to many as someone who could fix just about anything. From cars and plumbing to electrical work and carpentry, he rarely hired someone to repair what he could do himself.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date for family and friends.
