Clarence Sylvester Wells, Sr., 94, of Chesterfield, VA, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026. Born in Powhatan, VA, he was the son of the late Homer and Emily Duty Wells; and was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Mr. Wells proudly served his country in the United States Army and then went on to retire from Inta-Rota after 43 years of dedicated service. Mr. Wells had a passion for building. He had built all of his families homes and kept a meticulous garden and yard. He was a man of deep faith and was a member of Kingsland Baptist Church where he had served on the building and grounds committee. Mr. Wells had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Elva Spain Wells; two children, Sharon Wells and Clarence "Bubba" Wells, Jr. and wife, Debbie; two grandchildren, Kristin Burris (Jason) and Jason Wells (Kellie); three great-grandchildren, Reed, Chase, and Emerson; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, VA 23002. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
