Charlotte "Cesia" Stasky Schoonmaker, 81, passed away on February 10, 2026. She is the child of the late Chester Stasky and Mary Stasiulewicz. She spent a lifetime as a nurse; the kind that didn't just treat symptoms, but steadied hands, calmed fears, and quietly carried other people's hardest days. After her career as a nurse, Charlotte retired, but retirement didn't take. During retirement, she volunteered at her local Humane Society in Florida, assisting with surgeries and advocating fiercely for the underdogs - especially the old ones. Charlotte firmly believed that senior citizens should adopt senior dogs, resulting in less chaos, better understanding, and better naps. She had a soft spot for the grey muzzled Souls who just needed one more chapter. Charlotte's final adoption was an 11-year-old beagle, Chloe, who she cherished. For 3 years, they kept each other company in the quiet, steady way older hearts do best. Charlotte understood that relationships, like life itself, are rarely perfect. What mattered to Charlotte was showing up with patience and loyalty. She valued her people deeply and carried them with her always, and worried just enough. Charlotte leaves behind a family who learned from her that compassion is action, old dogs deserve soft landings, and even in the harder seasons, there is still time for a good book, a thriving plant, and a frozen coffee. Her family is comforted knowing that Charlotte is now at peace. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation to your local animal shelter in Charlotte's memory. The family is being served by the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Virginia.
