Charlotte P. Ake

January 11, 1919 — July 4, 2013

Charlotte Pond Drake, of Colonial Heights, passed away on July 4, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Jerry Franklin and Gaynell Mann Pond; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Churchill Gibson Drake, Sr.; seven brothers; and two sisters. Mrs. Drake was a charter member of Post 136 American Legion Auxiliary, and was also a member of Ettrick Methodist Church. She is survived by her children, Charlotte Powers of Prince George, Churchill Gibson Drake, Jr. and wife, Eileen of Dinwiddie, and Susan Howlett and husband, Jimmy of Chesterfield; six grandchildren, Christie Ebron and husband, Eric, Jay Powers and wife, Valerie, Elizabeth Drake-Vest, Megan James, Keri Crowley and husband, Jimmy, and Kourtney Bostain and husband Jay, twelve great-grandchildren, Amber Clark, Christopher and Alyssa Ebron, Jaydon, Corbin and Dallin Powers, Kayla Price, Drake Vest, Hayleigh and Ryleigh Crowley, Jackson and Grayson Bostain; one great-great-grandson, Austin Price; and a brother, Jerry Wise Pond. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, in Blandford Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Ivan Perkinson, Officiating.
