Charlie Mullis

Mr. Charlie Mullis, age 98, of Colonial Heights, VA, passed away November 21, 2025.

A Celebration of Life service for Charlie will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends between 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the funeral home. A private burial will be held Friday, November 28, 2025, at Southlawn Memorial Park.

Charlie Mullis was born February 13, 1927, in Union County, NC, a son of the late Julius "Jule" Caldwell Mullis and Mary Etta Melton Mullis. Charlie was always active, beginning in childhood, by working on the family farm with nine siblings. He served in the Navy in 1945. Upon moving to Virginia, he worked at Allied Chemical for over 30 years before starting his own carpentry business and later Heritage Cabinets. Ever willing to help people, he coached a Little League team and was involved with numerous church activities and home projects over the years. When relaxing, he enjoyed listening to gospel and bluegrass music and was a member of several organizations. Known for his sweet tooth, Charlie enjoyed Mounds candy bars and ice cream.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy S. Mullis; son, Charles Mullis, Jr., daughter, Sylvia Shepperson; stepdaughter, Kathy Duffy (Jeffrey); stepson, Randy Greene; brother, Judge Mullis; sister, Julia Carpenter; grandson, Bernie Fournier; grandson, Steven Chobanian; grandson, Dennis Shepperson; and numerous great-grandchildren, including Tyler Fournier (Josie), Tara Shepperson; great-grandson, Lucas Greene; great-great-granddaughter, Raelynn Fournier; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents; Charlie was preceded in death by Gerrildene Mullis; three brothers, Boyce Mullis, JB Mullis, and Edward Mullis; and four sisters, Jeanette Whitley, Mary Lee Love, Carrie Brooks, and Faye Morton; one daughter, Phyllis Chobanian; and one granddaughter, Lisa Sheffield Emory.

Although flowers are appreciated, the family requests any memorials in Charlie's honor be made to The Heights Baptist Church, 17201 Route 1, S Chesterfield, VA 23834.
