Charles Faris Wood, Jr., beloved as Chuck Wood, born on November 11, 1951, in Lunenburg County, Virginia, passed away on June 26, 2025. He was beloved by his family, friends, and pets.
Charles retired after 30 years at Dominion Power and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Operating Engineers, Freemasons, Scottish Rite, and Shriners. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn Grubb Wood; his son, Charles Joshua Wood; his daughter, Christina Wood Morriss and son-in-law, Michael Morriss; his daughter, Casey Wood; and his cherished grandsons, Josh Morriss and Jacob Morriss. He is also survived by his sister, Penny Devore; brother-in-law, David Grubb and sister-in-law, Terri Grubb; as well as his extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and beloved pets.
Charles was predeceased by his father, Charles Faris Wood, Sr.; his mother, Beulah Jeter Wood; his sister, DD Rose; and his sister, Maryellen Radford.
He had a passion for fishing for largemouth bass, enjoyed daily walks and gardening with his daughters. Charles will be fondly remembered for his devotion to his family, his beloved pets-his dog Spot, cats Pepper and Tom, and chickens-and his deep love for life.
A graveside gathering will be held to celebrate Charles's life and honor his memory on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 11am, at Sunset Memorial Park, located at 2901 W Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to an animal charity of your choice.
Chuck Wood will forever remain in our hearts, remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. May the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace, forever and ever, Amen.
