TSGT Charles Otto Godsey, Sr., U. S. Air Force (retired), 82, of Chester, passed away Monday, August 5, 2013. Born in Bluefield, WVA, he was the son of the late Thomas William and Nellie Collins Godsey. During his 20 years in the Air Force, Mr. Godsey served in Korea and Vietnam. Following his active duty career, he worked in civil service at Bellwood for 20 years. Mr. Godsey was a true outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was also a prankster and expert story teller. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Laura L. Godsey; daughter, Vickie L. Andrews and husband, Michael of Chester; sons, Charles O. Godsey, Jr. and wife, Linda of Rocky Mount, VA, and Thomas J. Godsey and wife, Rebecca of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Elizabeth Bosse and husband, Brian and Jessica Praeger and husband, Richard all of Eufaula, AL, and Hunter Godsey of Chesterfield; a sister, Sandra Torquato, her husband, Richard, and their daughter, Natalie all of Boca Raton, FL.; step-granddaughter, Dawn Archer and husband, Johnny; great-grandchildren, Channing Ivey, Seth Archer and Hannah Archer. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Chesterfield Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George.
