Carolyn Elizabeth Wilson (known as Kay and Aunt Kay to many) passed away peacefully at home with her children Beth, Barbara, and Tom close by her side. Left with loving memories of their Grandma Carolyn are Matthew, Jennifer, Jacob, Sara, Rachel, and Ryan along with their children, Corey, Lane, Walker, Ragnar, and Anna Jo. She is also survived by her son-in-laws, David (Beth) Mertz and Frank (Barbara) Reese; and grandchildren-in-laws, Steve, Eirik, Cameron, and Bailee. Carolyn is also survived by her sister, Ruthalea Taylor; cousin, Garnet Raines; and her dear friend, Pat Johnson.
Carolyn, 85, was the daughter of Daniel Mason and Ruth Fields Jones. She was one of seven children, Glen, Ross, Robert, Paul, Ruthalea, and Gerald. The close-knit family spent many happy days filled with love and laughter in the mountains of West Virginia with their spouses, children, friends, and Carolyn's loyal companion Jack.
Carolyn asked for no service. She last attended Trinity United Methodist Church, was retired from Fort Lee and was active in the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Sara Mears for the exceptional care she provided Carolyn over many years. Thank you also to Crater Community Hospice and caregiver, Brenda Bennett. All services will be private. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
