Caroline K. Severin Piczak, 88 of Chester, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2014, after a period of declining health. Caroline was born in Haywood, WV to the late John and Antonia Filemonova Kokenzie who were immigrants from Poland and Russia. In addition to her parents, Caroline was predeceased by her husbands, Virgil L. Severin and Benjamin A. Piczak; brothers, Henry, Alexander and Nicholas Kokenzie; and sister, Anna Purdy. Caroline retired from Allied Chemical (Honeywell) in 1989. Caroline loved the Lord and attended Nazareth Lutheran Church in Hopewell for many years prior to joining and attending Grace Lutheran Church in Chester, VA. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing and created many beautiful afghans and quilts for her family and friends over the years. She also enjoyed cooking, reading and bird watching. Left to cherish Caroline’s memory are her sister, Elizabeth Toole; sons, David Severin and his wife Rita, John Severin, Richard Severin, and Andrew Severin and his wife Ulrike; daughters, Laura Severin and Christine Severin; six grandchildren, Jeremy Severin, Brooke Owens and her husband Roger, Courtney Howell and her husband Justin, Jayne Severin and Jim Severin, Michael Severin and his wife Jessica; and one adorable great grandchild, Sofiel L. Severin; many nieces and nephews; and her two cats, Maryanne and Tiger. Funeral services will be held on Thursday February 20, 2014, at 2 p.m. with visitation 1 hour prior at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Interment will be private at a later date in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Altona, Illinois next to her first husband, Virgil L. Severin.
