Carlton Macon Nunnally, Jr.

Carlton Macon Nunnally, Jr., 77, of DeWitt, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. Born on August 5, 1947, in Dinwiddie, VA, was the son of the late Carlton Nunnally, Sr. and Katherine L. Nunnally. He graduated from Sunnyside - McKenney High School in McKenney, VA. Carlton and Joyce Benninghove were married on April 15, 1972, at Rocky Run UMC and together raised their two children in the home that he built. After a successful career as an electrical engineer, he retired as operations manager from Lee Electrical in 2021.

Well known in the DeWitt community as a humble and honest gentleman which was evidenced through his genuine care for others and the way he always took the time to be kind to everyone. One of his favorite things to do in his later years was to ride around his hometown in his dad's old pickup truck just to see what folks were doing. He also, enjoyed spending time in his shop, gardening, and most of all being with his family.

Blessed with a wonderful family, Carlton will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, brother, father, and grandfather to his family who will miss him dearly.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 53 years, Joyce Nunnally, of the home; brother, Wyatt L. Nunnally (Robin), of Dinwiddie, VA; daughter, Teresa Denning (Rich), of Mount Olive, NC; son, Michael Nunnally (Amy), of Chester, VA ; six grandchildren, Rachel Nunnally, Rebecca Nunnally, Jessica Christian, Michael Nunnally, Jr., Joshua Denning, and Daniel Nunnally.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 6616 Boydton Plank Road, Dinwiddie, VA. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Rocky Run United Methodist Church, 14925 Glebe Road, DeWitt, VA, officiated by Rev. Dr. Rich Denning.
