Carl Chandler

Carl Powell Chandler, 81, of Chester, passed away on September 23, 2011. He was the son of the late William and Elma Elizabeth Powell Chandler, and was also preceded in death by his brother, William W. Chandler. Mr. Chandler was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served in the Korean Conflict, and a member of Chester Baptist Church. In his younger days, he was an Eastern Airline Pilot, worked for Reynolds Metals, was Past President of the Chester Civitan Club, and was heavily involved with the Lyons Club. Mr. Chandler was the manager of Wilson Feed & Seed in Richmond for over 20 years, and after that was a sales consultant for Southern States. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Chandler, three daughters, Jessica L. Campbell and husband, Jerry, Jo C. Mims and husband, Larry, Janet C. Palmer and husband, Bill; seven grandchildren, Jared, Justin, Mike, Steve, Lindsey, Chris, and Andrea; one great-granddaughter, Taylor. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 26, 2011 in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA., with Dr. William Damon, officiating.
