Burnard Gene Maynor

Burnard Gene Maynor, 89, of Hopewell, VA, passed away on June 20, 2026. Born in Mabscott, WV, he was the son of the late Marvin and Bessie Maynor. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Tom, and Doug Maynor; and his sister, Carol Schultz.

Gene served his country faithfully in the Air Force before working at Allied Chemical B Plant for 42 years. He was an avid golfer at the Prince George Golf Course and a dedicated family man. He cherished his roles as husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Gene is survived by his wife of 68 years, Phyllis Ann; twin sister, Barbara Thornton; daughters, Barbara Daniel (Ken) and Debra McCall; grandchildren, "TJ" McCall, Jr. (Joy Mellon), and Benjamin and Emily Daniel; and great-grandchildren, Emerson and Jameson McCall, and Thea Daniel.

A funeral service for Gene will be held at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 11:00am, with burial immediately following at Bermuda Memorial Park.
