Bobby Sasser, age 90, passed away on July 27, 2025. Bobby was born to the late Paul Sasser and Stella Sasser. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jane Sasser; his daughter, Janet Myers; and his grandson, Justin Sasser.
Bobby was born and raised on a farm in North Carolina, where he grew up alongside his brother, Preston, and sisters, Martha and Sandra. His early years, shaped by the values of hard work and family, laid the foundation for a life marked by dedication, service, and kindness.
He attended East Carolina University on a basketball scholarship, where he also worked in the university greenhouse, combining his love for sports with a strong work ethic and an appreciation for nature. After college, Bobby began his professional career as a fire protection engineer with Allied Chemical in Richmond, Virginia, later joining Reynolds Metals Company, where he served as Corporate Safety Director until his retirement.
Bobby was happily married to Jane Sasser for 61 years. Together, they built a loving home and raised their family with devotion, faith, and joy. His role as a husband, father, and grandfather was central to his life, and his family was his greatest pride.
Outside of work, Bobby enjoyed fishing, spending time in the outdoors, coaching youth sports, and working with the Boy Scouts. He poured his energy into supporting and guiding young people, leaving a lasting impact on many.
For more than 50 years, Bobby was a dedicated member of Chester Baptist Church. He faithfully taught Sunday School, played on the church's fast pitch softball team, and served on the outreach maintenance team, including helping to build a church in Chesapeake, Virginia. His service reflected his deep faith and desire to uplift others.
Bobby's life was a testament to love, humility, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, and unwavering kindness that will live on in all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons, Billy Sasser (Linda) and Gene Sasser (Kimberly); his grandchildren, Christopher Sasser (Amber), Brandon Sasser (Cierra), and Katie Stanley; great-grandchild, Remington Sasser; his brother, Preston Sasser, of Cowpens, SC; and his sisters, Sandra Setzer of Marion, NC, and Martha Rives of Nebo, NC.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow the next day on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the same location. Interment at Dale Memorial Park will follow after the service.
