Billy Joe Austin

Billy Joe Austin, 83, of Hopewell, VA, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025. He was born in Cucumber, WV, to the late Bascom and June Austin. He is also preceded in death by two sisters. He was a volunteer at Henricus Park and as a poll election official. When his country needed him, he spent six years in military service under the Army. He went on to work for over 30 years at Dominion Power and on Ft. Lee before his retirement. He is survived by his loving wife of over 59 years, Linda Austin; his son, Brian Austin (Leslie Zimmer-Austin); two grandsons, Nathan Austin and Zachary Zimmer; his sister, Glenda Humphrey (Jim); and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Appomattox Cemetery, in Hopewell, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions in his name to Henricus Historical Park.
