Billie Howard Johnson, 92, of Chesterfield, VA, died September 2, 2026. Born and raised in Dante, VA, he was the only son of the late Howard and Rosa Glovier Johnson. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Mr. Johnson served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict era and then worked for FBI in Washington, DC, where he met his future wife. He was a 1959 graduate of Southeastern University. After several years, he began a long career as an Independent Insurance Adjuster, relocating to Richmond, VA, and then Chester, VA, in 1963. He was the owner and president of B.H. Johnson & Associates, Inc., retiring at 80 years old. His many professional awards and honors include Lifetime Memberships in the Richmond and Virginia State Claims Associations, as well as President and Man of the Year of both associations.  

Mr. Johnson was an active member of the Chesterfield community. He was recognized by the Chesterfield Fire Department, served as president of the Chester Kiwanis Club, was the most loyal Gander of the VA Pond of the Order of the Blue Goose, and earned a District Award of Merit from the Boy Scouts of America. He was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Chester, VA, where he served on the vestry and fiscal committees. He was known for his yearly participation in the church's Oyster Roast, where he and his buddies roasted a pig and steamed oysters to everyone's delight. He was known as a kind, funny, generous, and loving man who enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing, gardening or, in his later years, picking up sticks in the yard.  

Mr. Johnson Is preceded in death by his son, Robert Johnson; and his sister, Sue Ring of Castlewood, VA. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rita Keeton Johnson of The Plains, OH; daughter, Diane Johnson of Shaker Heights, OH; son, Jeffrey Johnson of Chesterfield, VA  (Teresa); grandchildren, Kristin Taylor of Mechanicsville, VA, Hunter Johnson of Farmville, VA, Joshua Johnson of Lynchburg, VA  (Skylar of Stuarts Draft, VA), and Johnson Reynolds of Shaker Heights, OH; and five great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and first cousins.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 12201 Richmond Street, Chester, VA. Interment will follow the service at St. John's. The family will receive friends after the interment in the Parish House.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, P. O. Box 3886, Chester, VA 23831. The family is being served by the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
