Barry Glen Curtis, 78, of Colonial Heights, VA, passed away September 3, 2026. He was born on August 8, 1948, to the late Rev. Glen and Jane Curtis in Morehead, KY, and was also preceded in death by his siblings, Terry Curtis and Devona Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alice Baird Curtis; daughter, Kim Curtis (husband Bruce Vlk); granddaughter, Audrey; niece, Devoné Christmas (husband Terry); great-nephew, Foster; and numerous cousins.

A graduate of Olivet Nazarene University and Chapman University, Barry was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, after which he built a long and successful career at Philip Morris USA. In retirement, he found a new purpose serving at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home (Hopewell Chapel), where he brought comfort to grieving families through conversation and prayer. Along with his wife Alice, he was a faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights. Barry had a passion for antique cars and was a member of the Crater Antique Car Club, having bought and sold 17 cars. He enjoyed model cars, Walt Disney World, Chick-fil-A, and peanut butter.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff of The Richmond Community Hospice House, Affinity Hospice Nurse Jackie S., Visiting Angel Vanessa J., college friend Jim Speidel, and church buddy Kelly Benton.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on September 8, 2026, at Wesley United Methodist Church at 3701 Conduit Road in Colonial Heights. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Graveside service will be private. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son.

Barry always said, "You do the loving and let God do the judging".

In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial contributions in Barry's memory to the Bon Secours Community Hospice House. Gifts will help provide compassionate hospice care and support for patients and families in need, regardless of their ability to pay.
