Born Barbara Ann Forehand to Harry and Beulah Forehand, on April 21, 1940, in Hopewell, VA. Married to Ray Hash, of Petersburg, VA, in 1959. Predeceased by parents, Beulah and Harry Forehand; husband, Ray Hash; brother and sister, Tommy Forehand and Earlene Creech; as well as her two sons, Bobby and Chip Hash.
Leaving behind her loving daughter, Jo Rae; son-in-law, Ryan; grandsons, Cohen and Caden; and loyal and loving friend for more than 20 years, Peter Iarrici. Also those who will feel her absence are Don Hash, stepson, and his loving family who she cared for dearly.
At age 85 years young, Barbara lived a long and full life. Although Vascular Dementia slowed her down, she continued to work and live independently for many years, putting in 25 years at the Walmart in Colonial Heights, VA. It was not until she suffered a Stroke that she was forced into retirement and moved closed to Jo and Ryan. She enjoyed many weekend visits with Pete filled with cooking, eating, shopping, and keeping up with the most popular movies in the Theater. She was always happy to tag along with Jo Rae, Ryan, and the family on vacations to Nashville, Branson, multiple beaches, and so much more. Always excited to celebrate the holidays with friends and family, whether she was hosting in the early days or passing the torch to Jo and her cousins.
She continued to enjoy being part of a community within the memory care facilities she lived in in Midlothian, VA. She was loved by many who lived and worked at the residences, being graced daily by her beautiful smile, big hugs, and even getting a little taste of her feisty side.
By God's grace, Barbara always recognized her family and friends who came to visit to the end.
We thank those who were part of her care team at The Pearl at Watkins Center and Suncrest Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Colonial Heights Animal Shelter, where she adopted her beloved cat, Baby.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 PM. Interment will directly follow the service at Appomattox Cemetery.
