Antoinette Patricia Foster

February 28, 1948 — September 8, 2014

Antoinette Patricia Foster, affectionately known as Toni, was born on February 28, 1948, to Anna Nero Rose and John Rose, Sr. in Brooklyn, NY. The oldest of three children who were raised on Vernon Avenue in Brooklyn, NY and on Frederick Avenue in Roosevelt, NY, Toni was educated at St. Ambrose Elementary School and St. Joseph High School. She also studied at Suffolk Community College where her kind spirit touched the soul of Mervin Foster. Always known for her big heart, pleasant and reserved nature, Toni had a quiet spirit that made her an excellent listener and a great friend to many.

After 37 years of service as a Court Assistant with the New York State Court System, Toni retired on September 30, 2002. With Merv, her husband of 36 years, she relocated to Sutherland, VA close to where Merv grew up and daughter Candace was attending school. Antoinette loved to dance. For several years she was a member of the Venettes Cultural Workshop expressing herself through ballet, tap, jazz, and Afro dance. Toni also displayed her talent for singing by joining and being a dedicated member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Choir.

Toni lived life as we aspire to do; she was kind to those blessed with her presence, loved dearly, smiled sweetly, and laughed constantly. Although Toni treasured spending time with family and friends, God needed His daughter to rest and called her home on September 8, 2014, with her husband at her side. Welcoming Toni to heaven are her parents, Anna and John Rose, Sr. and sister-in-law Debbie Rose. Toni is survived by her husband Mervin Leroy Foster; son Robert Kent Sobotoker, Jr. (Angelica Sobotoker); daughter Candace Benn (Jason Benn); grandchildren, Sharae Sobotoker, Robert Sobotoker III, Brandon Sobotoker, Anthony Sobotoker, Lanai Benn, and Jayda Benn; great-grandchildren, Jaivon and Lailani; brother John Rose II; sister Charlotte Rose; as well as an abundance of loving relatives and friends who will miss her physical presence and always adore her sweet spirit. Throughout her life Toni touched many lives and inspired all who interacted with her. Our Antoinette, wife, Mommy, TeeTee, cousin, and friend Toni was an Angel on Earth and now she is our Angel in Heaven.
